Sequencing

Draw, single, and set/remove triggers (L+R vs R). The page row lives in Pages+More; mutes, note-shift, copy & paste, and random in Advanced Sequencing.

Draw mode (the default view)

Draw mode is what greets you on power-up. Every voice is visible at full intensity; the red playhead line runs across all rows at once; the cursor is the focus point.

Example draw grid: notes from four voices, playhead behind column 7.

1 Encoder 1
TurnMove row / voiceChoose the lane under the cursor; row colour follows the voice.
ShortErase noteRemoves the note at the cursor (does not mute the lane — mute is encoder 2).
LongErase while movingLatches erase: keep holding and turn to wipe a trail. Held together with encoder 4 long, clears the whole page across all voices.
2 Encoder 2
TurnPage or per-row volDetermined by SETT → CTRL: PAGE flips pattern pages, VOL rides volume for the current row.
ShortMute laneToggles the current voice between sounding and silent. Overlay detail: Advanced → Mutes.
LongMute / solo overlayHold to solo the current voice; enc 3 = fast filter, enc 4 = random sample. Release to return. See Advanced → Mutes.
3 Encoder 3
TurnFast filterTwists the parameter chosen as default on the current channel's filter page.
ShortPlay / pauseTransport toggle for the sequencer.
LongOpen filtersJumps into the filter editor for the focused voice (FX-capable channels).
4 Encoder 4
TurnMove column (time)Slides the cursor across steps 1…32.
ShortPlace noteWrites a note at the cursor if the cell is empty.
LongPaint trail or note detailOn an empty cell: latch paint and turn to draw a trail. On an existing note: open the per-step editor.

Single mode (focus on one voice)

Same logic as draw, but only the selected voice is drawn at full intensity; everything else fades to its base tint. Good for working on a single instrument without visual noise from the others.

Single mode: focus voice is bright white, neighbouring voices show as dim base colours.

Enter single mode with tap L (touch 1) from draw while the cursor selects voice 1–8, 11, 13, or 14 (tap again to return). Entry is blocked on the page strip (row 16) and empty voice rows 9, 10, and 12. Once inside single mode, row 16 remains available for page tools. All gestures from draw apply, but: copy/paste only grabs the focused channel; the clear-page chord (encoder 1 + encoder 4 both long) only clears the focused channel; randomize from the page row affects only the focused channel.

Set triggers & remove triggers

Every lit step on the grid is a trigger — “play this voice here.” Placing steps is paint; clearing them is unpaint. How your hands do that depends on SETT → DRAW.

L+R vs R — pick a handedness

Both modes use the same grid. The difference is which encoder writes and which one erases (or does something else).

Best forCareful editing: one hand owns the row, one owns timeLive one-hand drawing and quick breaks
Flip the mode anytime under SETT → DRAW. Your pattern stays put — only the gestures change.

Set triggers (paint) — L+R

Left hand = which voice. Right hand = which step, and the pen that writes.

  • Turn encoder 1 — move to another voice row.
  • Turn encoder 4 — move along time (steps).
  • Tap encoder 4 — place a trigger at the cursor.
  • Hold encoder 4 and turn — paint a continuous trail of triggers as you move.

L+R paint: enc 4 writes along the timeline while enc 1 picks the lane.

Remove triggers (unpaint) — L+R

Same mode, opposite hand: encoder 1 is the eraser.

  • Tap encoder 1 — clear the trigger under the cursor.
  • Hold encoder 1 and turn — wipe a trail of triggers.

You never “toggle” with one knob in L+R — write and erase stay on separate encoders so you can’t accidentally flip the wrong way mid-gesture.

R mode — set & remove on one encoder

With DRAW = R, encoder 4 does both jobs: tap an empty cell to set, tap a lit cell to remove. Hold and turn to paint or erase a trail — the latch follows whatever was under the cursor when you pressed.

  • Tap encoder 4 — toggle that cell (empty ↔ trigger).
  • Hold encoder 4 and turn — continuous paint if you started on empty, continuous erase if you started on a trigger.
  • Turn encoder 1 — still chooses the voice row.

R mode: one hand on enc 4 for set/remove; enc 1 is free for breaks.

R mode bonus — temporary full mute

Because erase moved off encoder 1, that encoder’s press becomes a performance mute: everything goes silent so you can drop a break. How you leave the mute decides what comes back:

  • Encoder 1 again — restore the mutes you had before
  • Encoder 2 — only channels 1 and 2 unmuted
  • Encoder 3 — apply the custom set from SETT → MUTE
  • Encoder 4 — unmute everything

SETT → MUTE is that custom “come back to these lanes” mask — not a gate on which rows you can paint. Build a “kick + snare only” return if you want breaks that land on just those voices.

Need to wipe a whole page? On the page row, unpaint that page’s strip LED with encoder 1 (L+R) — see Pages+More → Delete a page. Or use the enc 1 + enc 4 long chord / single-mode clear on the current edit page.
